What is impetus?

impetus™  is a not for profit company that aims to improve the health outcomes of our community by supporting and encouraging sustainable, innovative general practice. We are proudly funded by the Department of Health & Ageing through the Divisions of General Practice Program.

impetus™ works predominately with general practice.  To provide the overall context for the work of the organisation we use the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) definition of general practice:
General practice is the provision of primary continuing comprehensive whole-patient medical care to individuals, families and their communities.

We provide a range of services for general practitioners, practice managers and practices nurses. In addition we assist with linkages between general practice and other health providers.
